Can You Copy-Trade Your Own Prop Firm Accounts?

The short answer is yes, at most firms, with a long list of conditions. The longer answer is what the conditions are, because they are the difference between a farm and a terms violation.

What "own-account copy" means

Every set of terms we have read permits copying trades between accounts *you personally own* — same name, same profile, same person. The moment the source of the trades is someone else — a signal service, a friend, a paid "leader" — it is banned in every one of them. So is the reverse: you acting as a signal source for accounts that are not yours.

It is the single rule that makes a self-owned farm viable and a shared one impossible. Your process, your seats.

What the firms say about the tools

Firms differ on which copy platforms they support or tolerate. Some name specific platforms in their terms; some are platform-agnostic; some require the copy to happen inside their own environment. A farm that assumes its copier is fine at every firm it holds seats at is one rulebook away from a surprise. Put "supported copy method" in the matrix.

The conditions that follow you

- Caps. Copying does not lift the per-trader account limit. The cap is the edge of the field. - No hedging. Copying the same direction to every seat is what firms expect. Copying opposite directions across seats — including through correlated instruments at some firms — is a violation. - Per-account rules still apply per account. Drawdown, consistency and news rules are enforced on each seat individually. A copier does not average anything. - Copy freezes. Some firms disconnect copying on an account during payout processing. The copier must tolerate a seat dropping out and re-joining. - Same objective. Not a firm rule but ours: only copy between accounts with the same job — evals with evals, fundeds with fundeds.

What copying does not do

It does not make a losing process profitable; it makes it lose on more seats. It does not diversify; every seat is the same bet. And it does not replace the hand-traded leader — the leader is a real account traded to a written process, and the followers inherit it. Copying across accounts: the mechanics goes into fills, latency and partial closes.

Before you wire anything

Read the copy-trading clause at each firm, in the current version of the terms. Confirm the platform. Confirm the cap. Confirm the hedging language including any mention of correlated instruments. Then, and only then, decide which seats belong in which tree.
